More than 50 % of first-time married couples divorce. More than 60% of couples in the United States who marry a second time divorce. This pandemic effects millions of couples and even more children. Though less than 25% of divorcing couples are considered high conflict, most divorcing couples can benefit from guidance that is readily available to them. There is now a cottage industry of divorce professionals whose goal is to help folks divorce in the most healthy way possible.

Additionally, with training, psychologists can play some of these roles (not for their own therapy clients of course!).

Learning Objectives

  • Know the variety of professional supports available to clients (and friends and family members) going through divorce
  • Understand why more than psychotherapy is needed to help folks make clear decisions about divorce
  • Be familiar with basic literature about divorce (for parents, for professionals, children’s books),
  • Learn the various options for how people can divorce (and how many Coloradans don’t use attorneys to divorce)
  • Know the different roles that psychologists can fill in divorce work
  • Be aware of what gets in the way of healthy divorces
  • Understand the variables that impact children’s mental health during and after their parents divorce

In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must listen to the entire webinar recording and successfully pass the assessment with a score of 80% or higher. Once you do so, you will receive an emailed certificate.
