Description: Pain management continues to be a serious challenge to health providers. However, research has repeatedly shown the powerful impact of behavioral pain management on patient pain levels, functional abilities, medication usage, and overall quality of life. In this talk, we will review the research on psychological factors that impact the patient pain experience, provide an overview of the psychological pain interventions, discuss referral language that you can use to help your referral sources make a better patient referrals, and home-based strategies that patients can use to reduce their pain experience.
After the lecture, psychologists will be welcome to bring questions and their own patient experiences to the discussion.
